iPhone 3.0 To Be Revealed March 17

Posted on: March 16, 2009

I won’t make any attempt to hide it: I really like the iPod line of MP3 players.  Not only do they perform one function really well – and that is to play music – but they’ve expanded to perform many other functions very well.  The iPod Touch (I own one) is a great example: it does a great job of playing music, but it also plays video, and basically anything you want thanks to the App Store (or jailbreaking, if you’re up for that).

So of course it excites me to learn that the iPhone 3.0 software will be released Tuesday, March 17.  iTunes was recently updated to 8.1 (and I do notice an increase in speediness), so it’s probably reasonable to expect this update to the iPhone OS.  We’re on 2.2 right now, though, so it does seem like a bit of a big leap to 3.0.

No word yet on what’s expected to be included in the update; still, it’s coming tomorrow, so we don’t have to wait very long.
